I bought a P38 last week and absolutely delighted with apart from the ICE set up. It's an old Panasonic CD player and after removing it and seeing the spaghetti from the DIY wiring effort am none too impressed.

The point of the post is this though - only the bottom woofer speakers are making any noise and the whole set up sounds like it's underwater. Amps from the HK system not feeding sound to the mid and tweeters?

I think it's going to take a bit of rewiring, but any basic steers would help. I have read as many threads as I can find but they are about hooking it up, not making an existing system work!

Thanks in advance!

Chris

:welcome2: Maybe worth getting an original head unit and a length of the wiring loom from a scraper, and try and marry up the wires. HK systems dont like after market units much, and to be honest if you can fit an orignal unit then i doubt youll be unimpressed, mine is standard, loads of speakers and the sub in the boot with the cd multi changer, loud as **** and sounds great to me !!!

Thanks - is there anyway of telling whether it should be a Clarion or Apline head unit? Or is it just a case oif trying and seeing what might fit? Sadly the connecters from the car side are chewed off and wired into a connector block so no LR standard connectors left.

Good advice above. The original systems are quite good if they work, you may find though that previous owner may have upset the amps by feeding speaker lever outputs into the amps which should only have line level inputs.

Thanks for the help and info, remarkable after a 8 days of ownership the speakers tweeted into life today during a short non-bumpy trip to Asda. Bonkers - sounds a lot, lot better. Some sparkle and some mid - turned down the treble and turned up the bass.

CD changer/sub is missing though - worth replacing the sub with original part or making my own??

id say get the propper one from a breaker as they are fitted behind the trim panel and bolt there just nice, and i think its an all in one type thing. Sounds nice to!! I love my music loud, but even i have to turn it down after a while!!
