Hey guys, well recently bought my disco and finally managed to get under her today for a proper poke around.

I noticed other day fresh oil on the drive (doesnt bother me just like to know where its coming from)

i noticed today that there appears to be the plug missing on the Gear box, iv read that some gearboxes are dry, is mine dry an this just need plugging when off roading?

There was oil around the area and components around the area but wiped off quite easily and the hole was clear.

\I dont want to run the car now until i know if it should be bunged up or not ie dry box or should have oil.

Cheers

it is not for letting water out, but oil. Its in case the front gearbox or rear crankshaft oil seals are leaking. Oil on the clutch aint a good idea.

but yes - fit if yu is likely to go thru water, coz yu dont want water getting IN there.

Land rover say " keep it fitted and remove every 6000 miles to drain and check".
