Hi All.
Has onyone changed the rear oil seal on the transfer box, iv'e got a leak and the handbrake won't hold, ( oil contamination ),

Thanks.

Yes on a 1989 90. If it's the same transfer box as mine it's a doddle.

1. Propshaft off
2. Handbrake off
3. Output flange off, you should be able to lock it up to undo the nut by engaging difflock and putting it in gear.
4. Clean the oil up cos you should have drained the transferbox first!!
5. Seal cover off and seal out. You should be able to get it out with a flat bladed screwdriver. One of these is better though http://www.landyzone.co.uk/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=7420

I'd get the new seal from a bearing suppliers they're better quality. I did the front one on mine twice in six months 'cos the first one was a cheapo one from Craddocks and didn't last very long, the second was from a bearings and seal suppliers and is still OK, can't remember the manufacturer. You'll probably have to take the seal in to match it though.
