Hi Folks,

MOT is due on Saturday and the ABS light is stuck on, normally this goes out within a few secs of driving off but has in the past stayed on for a while on several occasions.

Just had Rover in the garage for a pre-mot check and had some work carried out, track rod ends, drag links and some other bits I can't remember.
When I drove into the drive and braked there was some juddering and since then the light has stayed on.

Done a bit of searching on the forum and assuming I've pulled the correct relay I get code 3-2 which is the left front hydraulic modulator solenoid valve or its wiring.

Trouble is I don't have a clue what this looks like or where to find it, can anyone help please.

It is possible that the mechanic has disturbed something or it could be coincidence, as the problem has occured on and off in the past.
I know he's quite busy as the moment, and I don't want to waste his time without checking the basics first as his rates are excellent.

Cheers

Andy

Update Folks,

Still looking for a long term fix for the abs warning light, but pulled the bulb and took it for the mot. Passed no problems.

Brakes

Front 600
Rear 200
H Brake 300

Emissions

CO 0.367% Max 3.5%
HC 130ppm Max 1200

Only advisory was that the underbody was heavily undersealed!!, I can live with that cos I know it's mint underneath the gunk.

I believe this is contained in what is called the Hydraulic Booster Unit....

Check wiring and connectors, might help to check the air gap on the ABS sensors too....

Not to clued up on the ABS to be honest....

Check the connections to the wheel giving the problem. Make sure sensor is touching reluctor ring. If you have a high resistance connection or too large an air gap, it will not be getting a signal, that will be the juddering as the ABS is engaged because it thinks the no or low signal wheel is not moving, or revolving slower than the others.

Apologies guys, started again this morning and the code is 2-3 not 3-2.
I haven't found info on this so far, but still searching....

Tried clearing this by removing the paperclip as per advice in other posts but without success.

I'm not even certain I'm removing the correct relay as the location (under passenger seat not drivers) doesn't match the haynes manual, but when removed the abs light does flash the blink codes.

The only problems I have with Rover are electrical, and it's a huge learning curve and very frustrating. From what I understand later models have a socket for diagnostics but not in my case!!.

The lpg system is another matter, £40 and I've got the leads and software, runs sweet as a nut.
