well stick it on ebay then you two moaning minnies

it will be hard get a high price on here as we usually already have our landies and we can fix up battered ones to that standard ourselves. so we like a baaaaaargain :D imo!

I can't believe this hadn't sold. £5k is a very good price. I've actually seriously considered buying it for parts, but I couldn't bring myself to break such a nice Landy.

Good luck with the sale! I would be very surprised if it doesn't bring £6k+ on eBay.

It might pay me to either get it 100% by wiring everything up and sell it as is or take all the extras off and sell them separately , it's pretty obvious it's not going to sell on here :D

I think it will do well on ebay as it is, but you would probably make more money if you converted it back to a truck cab and sold a lot of the of parts separately.

I would say you've got a good £1500 - £2k worth of parts that will be doing very little towards the value of the vehicle.

Either way, I think you've got the wrong audience here. Very few LZ members are going to be interested in a finished project. They would rather save a few £k and put the work in for themselves, so you've got to apply a £2k LZ reduction compared to what you would get from Joe public.

As has been said before, if you want top money then fix the issues, no matter how minor, buy a cheap private plate and put it on eBay. Otherwise strip it back to standard and sell the parts and vehicle separately.

That would be a real shame to strip it. At lot of work gone into it, out of interest roughly how much would it cost to put a hard top on? And how hard?

It'd probably want painting but there's not much to do as it's mostly windows, the roof is usually just black or white though the back door would want painting

I'd think £4-500 , cheaper if you did it with van sides , it's easy enough to do just nuts and bolts

I'm still kicking myself for selling the truck cab

To be fair I'd be connecting all the extra's up, People wont want to give good money for something that is half finished.
Either that or remove the bits you can.
On another note, If someone on here buys it and wants to hard top it give me a shout as I still have some paint leftover.
Not that it seems it will on here, Recon it'd sell relatively quick on ebay.

You know what I paid for it, I've spent about £1800 on it since then so it's a bargain as it is , if I fixed the niggles and wired it all up I'd want a lot more for it.

You're right though, it'll never sell on here

I can imagine, I've been their and the costs add up far too quick.

Personally I'd remove what extras you can to re-coupe some costs and stick it on ebay.
It looks well now and should sell it's self really.

I'd need to find a roof as I sold the truck cab , the guy drove all the way from Suffolk for it  I'm still kicking myself

Yeah, Fair distance to travel for a truck cab.

The thing is the soft top makes it stand out a bit and looks loads better than a plain old truck cab.

I suppose it'd re-coupe a big chunk by selling it separate though.

Not in any way criticising, because I really like this Landy, but the problem with a soft top is that it takes away a lot of the practicality of the vehicle. I considered converting mine, but realised that I need to be able to carry stuff on the roof, which obviously isn't going to happen with a soft top fitted.

I still think it will sell easily on eBay, though!

Yep, Fair comment. Everyone has different needs and wants out of a vehicle.

Personally I think the truck cab is just as unpractical as you have no inside storage space.

Either way I agree and recon it'll sell easily on ebay.

I need to spend some time on it

The clutch master cylinder has started leaking, the speedo stopped working but that may be because I didn't connect the cable properly when I fitted the new dash, passenger door needs the linkage replacing so it'll lock but it's pointless as you can just unhook the rope and flick the lock up in 10 seconds.

They're all minor things , probably not £100 in parts but it needs some time which is why it'd be better going to an enthusiast.

People see a defender for 2k and think I'll buy that and do it on the cheap, before you know where you are you've got another 2k and it's still nowhere near where you'd want it to be.

The soft top isn't secure, all that means is it takes 10 seconds to get into instead of 20 seconds, soft top, hard top, truck cab, none are secure , it's an illusion :D
