Hello Sean Im John

I was just looking at your pictures of your series 3 rebuild and I am amazed.I am new to landy zone and dont own a landy yet but am thinking of getting a series 3.I dont know wether to pick a decent looking one up or buy a cheap one and have a mess about with it, but I dont know too much about them, but know I would realy enjoy trying to rebuild one. What are your thoughts on this mate and have you got any pictures of yours finished,I was gutted when I come to the end of your post and couldent see it.

Cheers

i know this sounds odd - but if you go back to the very start of this thread you'll see some pictures of the Series when it's finished, just imagine that vehicle looking exactly the same, but painted a slightly darker green :)

if you could do that it'll save you waiting here for another 6 months to see the same pictures at the end of this thread - the only difference being you won't have to imagine the darker green color - did that makes sense ?

I'm hardly the right person to ask about if buying and rebuilding a Series is a good idea as i am biased - perhaps ask yer doris or your bank manager if it's a wise hobby selection.

This isn't the first one I've rebuilt, and it won't be the last - the feeling you get seeing it covered in mud/crime/dirt after having spent just a few days driving it following a xxx month long rebuild is addictive.

I'd never buy a Series landy based on what it looks like now, see 90truckcabs rebuild thread - his was living in a field for years - if you are buying to rebuild then buy based on what you want it to look like AFTER the rebuild.

Put your location on your profile and you might get someone off here to come look over some potential buys when your ready.

Welcome to LZ :)

bit more messing with the bulkhead today, it's now ready to be trial fitted back onto the chassis to the last support leg can be tacked on - then it's back into the garage to be plugged and painted

showing where's it's chopped just under the hinge leaving enough meat to seam weld to new leg on

taken from the opposite side, if you ever wondered what's in there - this is where ya should be poping a ickle hole in and filling with rust proofing goo

fook knows which teaboy designed this little part of the bulkhead, it's just a little tab that appears to tie 2 panels together (very badly) - needs a bit of work to get tidy

bulkhead trial fitted back just to check levels and position - then it's back onto the jig to be fully spotted back together

check yer PM for some lathe porn - i'm off out shortly for the night so you've got time to see if you can offload your toy lathe :)

pm recieved, bort some more stuff today, need to expand th workshop i think, ;) catch yer later,

yeah i used a few rattle cans the other day, not much change from £7 ea
