The car doesn't look that badly off... it was this bit that was worrying, provided it means the same in the USA as it would do here?

yeah.. title and v5 are the same. Here in some states older vehicles do not need a title, but Kentucky is not one of them. Without a title it cannot be put on the road.
One thing that is throwing me on it is why she painted it if she is going to sell it unless it has something to hide. Some of the pictures are older before the paint job
 
yer cant really hide that much under the paint the panels are only thin , but its a landrover just paint it again

i seen kids intelligence grow over the years but i have to say this is the first time i've been around while someone's intelligence has left them. what little brains you had are quickly disappearing. it wouldn't surprise me if you wur the next president of america
