my trucks been sat in yard since about dec o6.first it was the dizzy the lumention packed up so i had to travel from gloucestershire to bicester to find a points distributer, had it fitted it was running fine then the hose from the rad to the engine sprang a leak this was 2 diffrent diameters with a metal sleeve joiner,i got a v8 disco hose but it didnt work,so is it worth me getting a hose custom made and moting it .its tax exempt but been on sorn twice now.or should i just stick it on ebay spares or repair.eitherway its got to go to make way for camper conversion what i need to know is it profitable getting it moted the chassis not bad paints tatty needs 1 bulkhead corner done.also has powersteering fitted,so is ideal for trial base landy.

wtf is lumention?

yer need to gert it on the road and flog it if all it needs is a hose and a bit of bulkhead. you could break it but then you gotta wait while folk decide if they want that bit to go with this bit and all the other **** yer get with buyers. if yer sell it whole yer only got one buyer to centent with. plus you wont have a load of useless tat left over

lumention is the crappy electronic pointless ignition, theres a silver box that sits on the inner wing with a baseplate in the dizzy.i ripped it off and got an oe spec dizzy and points put in and timed up.it started and ran fine but then the hose from the rad to the engine sprang a leak on a join so it empties the expansion tank.i drained the coolant out in october and its been sat there every since me yard is the rear garden thats all patio /concrete so i call it a yard. there was pic of the landy in matrix16 gallery i think i did have the hard top off but its slung back on now.

Got to be worth more mot'd the buyer can drive it home then as well which will get you mor einterest. I'd've swapped out the lumenition myself, or fitted a points only system as that would have saved you faffing with a condensor. Can't you just replace the bit of hose and use a sleeve joiner as before?

Take the two bits of hose to your local you can still take bits off here scrapyard and find some that fit, check volvos. saabs peugeots, they usually have a load of hose!

Clamp it up so it only leaks a little or doesn't leak at all. Weld it, mot it, sell it

I call my drive a yard cause it looks like a scrapyard! well it did until I started the mother of all tidy ups.

If it had a lumenition, all the wiring would have been there for a jodspark or a maplins own system that takes out the condensor and uses the points as a switch. using your point slike that is good for about 50,000 miles. Run similar in one of my other cars. Its beter than going all out for lumenition.
