Got an old series 2 which looks period perfect 1958 in most aspects apart from 2 1/4 engine. thing is on the V5 it says date of manufacture as 1956 now thats a couple of years before the series 2 was launched. I'm thinking either it was rebuilt a good while ago and reregisterd on a series 1 chassis number or could it be that all elusive really interesting landy. Got to try and figure soon as I am going to get round to that rebuild soon and what it is will affect how this rebuild goes ahead. anybody got any idea's as to the 2 year discrepincy. could it be a pre production?

Oh and how to get a good barn find landy nowadays.

make your own

buy an original looking landy in need of TLC with some MOT, drive around for a few months till the test runs out and then leave sitting outside to fix real soon. about 2 years latter Decide you wont be fixing it in the near future and it should be under cover so spend an hour getting it running and drive it 3 miles up the road to a barn and park it next to your other long term projects.
few years later go back top said barn and find it (barn find) again and remember how you only took it off the road for a few months 6 years ago.
I cant be the only one who has done this.

I would think that dunsford would be the ones to ask, although they will probebly try to buy it if it is a pre-production, it should have the 2ltr side exhuast valve engine in, i think this was far better than the 21/4

I will dig out all the info I have for oit somewhere and give them a call but there's no way I would sell it either way, every time it comes up in conversation with the missus I refer to it as my coffin, ha ha
