To all of the knowledgeable people upon here, I have recently purchased a 200Tdi 90 Defender which had a violent meeting with something else. I am in the process of changing both the axles to 300TDi Discovery (as the front one snapped on the drivers side during it's encounter!)

Having read the thread on lift kits, that has put me off the idea!
My question is, some years ago i put BFG mud terrains on a previous 90 -265/70R16's i vaguely remember:doh:.
They did rub both on lock (i know i could have put spacers on but don't like the increased load upon other parts) but also on extreme suspension travel.
I don't see so many 15" with big tyres on as there use to be, is there a reason for this?
Is this a viable alternative to 16"s or should i stay with the original rim size and a lower profile tyre? (i don't like too lower profile as it seems to effect the ride)
Your thoughts would be most appreciated,
Thanks, Paul

Welcome to the loony zone Paul. 16 inch rims and 235-85-16 tyres are the standard defender size so with this set up you should have no problems. With 265-75-16 tyres I think you might have to adjust the steering stops slightly, small job and wheel spacers are a bad idea
