L322 12v Accessory feed, can it switch off with ignition?

Hi all

In a previous vehicle I had, there was an option to move a fuse (it had 3 connection points and you could plug it in up or down) and it allowed you to decide whether the 12v socket stayed live when the ignition was powered off or whether it powered off at the same time. I always forget to unplug the dashcam etc so I wondered if it was possible to make the 12v socket dead when the ignition went off on my early L322?

I tried a search but couldn't see anything relevant.

Dont like to do this but have a look on fullfatrr forum there are some posts on there re dash cam fitting and changing the 12 volt outlets over to ignition control.

If there isn't a dead-easy fix, like the fuse-trick you described (which I doubt), you can achieve this easily enough by finding the wire which feeds the socket from the fuse box. Snip the cable and install a standard 12V relay in line with this feed and then power the coil of the relay off something which is ignition controlled, like the climate control, lights, fuel pump, etc. That way you get ignition controlled outlets without losing the dedicated fused circuit. Hope this makes sense.

Hi I have a l322 2005 and had the same issue, I found a local auto election and he wired it into the ignition and hid wiring behind the trim panels and the live feed comes out behind the rear view mirror, this only took just under 30 mins , he charged me £30 for the job , might be worth a try

Those auto elections certainly know how to charge,don't they must be associated to politicians .

If only every job was so easy. Only goes live on key position 2.

Remove fuse number 1. Remove link.



Insert relay and replace fuse.

Buggers have sold me the wrong one, no wonder they keep blowing

Old thread but this is related.

I plugged a mini fridge in the passenger cigar lighter and subsequently blew something. I restored power by removing relay 2 and putting the link back from 87 to 87a but now I have some strange voltages.
I have replaced fuse 1 (don't know if the old one was blown cos I dropped it in the wheel arch) and now have the below readings.
Does anyone please have any info as to how the relay is fed as there is nothing in my copy of the rave manual, not that makes sense anyway.
