Hi guys,

I have a gear box issue and think the easiest way is to swap the box. I will need to take out the old box swap the transfer box to the replacement box and then fit it. Is this a straight forward job or can expect issues. Is it unbolt swap, bolt in new box?

There is no gasket between the tbox and gearbox. There is one between the bell housing and engine. You will need to change the tbox input seal at a minimum. You can buy all the tbox seals and gaskets in a kit for about £10.

All nuts & bolts and a relatively simple 1-person job (I did mine manually without the use of an engine hoist last time, not something to consider doing if you have a hoist handy but I didn't and just got on with it and didn't have any problems).
With the gearbox out you really ought to consider a clutch kit and rear crankshaft oil-seal, so simple while it is all dismantled but a real pain if you have to do it all again in the near future because one of them fails.
