Hi,

Have any of you fellow landy owners got a spare and in perfect working order heater switch for a 110 or defender. I have just removed mine as it is probably *ucke* The previous owner had fitted a seperate switch but had definitely done it wrong by the looks of things. He had all three wires connected to the bodge he did and it kept blowing the fuse (live to earth short) I have checked at the heater end in engine bay and we have power at the purple wire, back in the cab at the switch wires we have power to both greens but no output when connected through the switch.

It looks as thought it needs replacing, a working second hand one will do nicely if anybody would like to donate one for a small fee ( I can send you a payment via paypal if you can post it to me. They are a touch expensive so close to xmas.

STC4848 about £34 brand new

Thanks for the code number. I spent ages before trying to find the part on a couple of landy indy places in Merseyside but not a mention of it. I was given a guide price a few days ago of about £55 from somebody.

I will probably go for a new one if I can get it for about around £34.

Thanks

Just bought the part online, £34.99 brand new, genuine part.

Probably need new fan motor brushes next.

Unfortunately you can't get the brushes as a separate part but the good news is that the motor is only about £60. Better is that the OE replacement I bought (Britpart I think) is exactly the same motor but at a third of the price. How do I know? The dealer got a genuine motor and a Britpart motor off the shelf and we checked them and they were identical even down to manufacturing markings, just in different boxes.

Even better. Keith Gott is selling brand-new (genuine) heater assemblies for £146 which is less than half the normal price. Having already replaced the motor and this year replaced the matrix I had no need of one but couldn't miss out at that price so I bought one and tucked it away in the back of the garage.

I would expect that if I could get the old brushes out of the motor then I could make some new ones up from another set, as long as they fit in the slots then they should work.
