Hi all ,

I have recently purchased a 110 CSW 1993

Been good as gold but with the dropping temperature last 2 weeks has been reluctant to start cranks over fine just does not fire up till 15th or so attempt

New battery fitted
Checked relay on pre heat
Check voltage on glow plugs

Annoying thing is I have a series 2a with 200tdi and this starts first time every time .

( apologies if this has been asked before )

sounds like a possible air in fuel issue, if u get air seeping in overnight it'll take a bit to crank it out

although i'd first try a new fuel filter

cheers steve

My 200tdi did this when one of the bolts on the injector fuel return line worked a little bit loose. Not enough to leak much, but enough to let air in. Is everything OK after the first start of the day?

What are glow plugs like?
These are cheap as chips, I fitted new ones as one was dodgy, also got heavy duty battery and now if its frosty just give it up to 20 seconds on the glow then it starts first hit.
Subsequent starts during the day only need a few seconds.

Fuel / air suggestion also very valid,

It's just initial start through the day it's fine and starts on first turn of key .

I checked glow plug resistance as per the Haynes Bible.

lots startt without glows in this weather. i'd be looking for leak back. check all the pipes, washers etc.

Hmmmm...

Guys , went out to land rover this morning to investigate starting problem.

Had socket set ready to replace glow plugs new fuel filter new lift pump.

But thought i would try and start it first and would you believe it . STARTED FIRST TIME ????

Any ideas ?

Because it knows. It will work fine until you're in a hurry. :smash:

After a lot of head scratching found the problem was with my hidden kill switch not making properly .

:doh::doh::
