Greetings,
Does anyone have a 110 equiped with Terrafirma +2" light load springs or the equivalent from another manufacturer? Is the extension of the rear while unladen as great as the HD +2" springs or does the vehicle sit lower? I am trying to avoid the over extension of the rear that is seen with the HD and even the Medium load springs. The 110 rides unladen 95% of the time.
Interestingly I can find tons of opinions on the Medium load and Heavy load springs but almost none on the +2" light load. I am torn between purchasing the medium load and the light load. I currently have +2" heavy duty. As usual your opinions and advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks and best wishes.

The 110 often sits a bit higher at the rear with the standard factory suspension anyway, so the HD springs are just replicating the sort of stance you'd see on the original vehicle. Experience with friends' Land Rovers tells me that so-called light load springs are a bit soft for load carrying (or even with a lot of people in the back) but give a less bouncy ride when unladen. When newly fitted, the vehicle's stance is around the same as with other kinds of springs, but I expect like a lot of Land Rover coil springs, they'll tend to 'settle' over time. I'd be a bit wary of going for a very lightweight set of springs as they might be a bit low and wallowy when you have a load in or are carrying passengers.

i had lightload +2" on my 110csw but when loaded up with camping gear it couldnt cope. It was bottoming out.

Ive now got them on my 110 rag top and its fine on that. Depends what vehicle it is your fitting them too i guess.

The feedback is appreciated. Originally I was going for the medium load and I will stick with that decision. It is a 110 4-door pickup by the way. The currently installed HD +2" kit is way too harsh so the medium load kit is a step in the correct direction.

The descriptor of heavy, medium or light is pretty irrelevant to be honest. Different manufacturers springs are rated differently despite using the same description.

It's the spring rating that matters, the heavy set on mine is 440 lb'/inch on my heavy set and 210 on my light set. Quite the difference!

Yes, pretty much my experience. A bit too squashy when you've got lots of luggage or a few passengers. Yes, different suppliers differ in terms of what's meant by 'light', 'medium' etc. so a rating in terms of weight per unit length tells you a lot more. Provided the suppliers know what it is to any level of accuracy!

Point taken. I am aware of the spring ratings for the particular brand I have in mind and also for the kit I currently have. In my understanding the HD/HEAVY LOAD +2" spring rates are pretty similar with manufacturers across the board. Just like Vilguy my rear pair is rated around 420lb/inch whereas the front is 230lb/inch. The TF medium load is 230/300 whereas the light load is 200/220 in the order of front/rear. In my opinion to go from 420lb/inch to 220lb/inch for the rear pair is quite drastic so i'll go for the "medium" range. I've spent literally ages studying spring rates and different setups from several manufacturers. One thing is clear and that is this: with suspension it is better to make an informed decision before you purchase and install.
