Hi everyone. Could anyone let me know the correct battery spec for a 110 2.5TD? I bought the vehicle in February, and have already found a few "bodges", and wonder if the correct battery has been fitted. I've just done some work on it, and disconnected the battery. The work took longer than expected due to a delay in parts, rusted bolts, etc., and the battery now won't turn the engine over. I've had it on charge for a day, and still no joy - even with a booster pack. The voltage reading across the battery terminals is 12.3V, and according to the Haynes manual that indicates only a partially discharged battery, not a knackered one. The vehicle was hardly used before I bought it (which may explain the three bird nests I've found on the chassis!!) so this may not have helped the battery health.

not sure what the factory spec would be? mine had a new battery fitted the week before i bought it :) which was nice, i know its a yuasa pro, but id have to check the figures on it. il have a look today and shout you back. what ever it is it spins it over lovely.

Thanks for the input guys - the fact that the battery I've got is only 585 Amps may be the problem. Turns the engine over well enough if it's used regularly, but if it tries to turn the engine once and fails, it's stuffed the next time. I'll post any updates on the battery I decide to buy (seems like the best option!)

i bought a cheap battery from the local indie for £51 2 years ago, biggest one that would fit, some unknown make (think its says truck battery on it) and thats been hammered and still works a treat.

sounds like a connection fault on yours though, freshly charged it should still spin it.

an 019 should fit and do the job, at least itll fit a 'fender... I belivee the correct size for a disco is an 072 (but i could be wrong im not certain). I've not seen that brand before (not that im massively experienced in battery brands)

how long it lasts could be the problem, and chasing up a warranty if it does fail.

That also said, when I worked at halfords the calcium batteries there were pretty good, rarely saw them come back, and when they did it was usually due to a duff alternator.

yeah... this battery failed not a year later...

bought one from halfrods when i worked there, little diddy thing with MORE CCA and AH than the equivalent, larger and more expensive one from the indie...

And a 4 yr warranty :)

I have a standard 540CCA battery fitted to mine. Starts without problem regardless of how long it is stood. Runs the winch and all the accessories. It was fitted 5 years ago by the RAF. Ex MOD 90.

I would think your battery is shagged rather than not being powerful enough.

I agree with the numax battery i have two in my 300 TDI 90, Even when it has been left for a week or so it still turns the engine great. I had a Bosch Silver battery in my old TD 110CSW was a great battery but the replacement i got from the motor factors which was the correct on was a pile of ****. It didnt turn the engine as fast as the Bosch one did
