My rear upper shock mount is rusted on the driver side. Anyone got any ideas on replacing this odd little part. can't get it off the shelf.

Anyone got a dead chassis that they could cut this part off?!!!

Wish i could forge a new part but i'm a bit new to all this.

Am currently struggling through my first big job of changing the gear box. Would be easier if it wasn't so heavy.

Can't help with the shock mount but the gearbox can be slid down to the floor on a board if you're careful without the aid of a hoist. A trolley jack helps, though.

Without cutting the gear box cross member? Wow. that would help! So i should be able to slide it down and out on a bit of ply?

With the seat box out there should be space to move the complete gearbox backwards past the crossmembers and then out the side - I've done it once when I couldn't get hold of a hoist, found the technique on an American site. It's still a bloody heavy awkward lump so be careful and use a jack where you can.
