I hope someone can help me. I have a 101 in oz converted to a camper. She was exported on 9.00x16 tyres and now I have to reboot her. My idea was to try to find a rim to fit the 6 stud pattern and 16" size but wide enough to take a 285/75 /16 tyre. the idea being that a bigger footprint may be a good idea. However I need to keep to the standard rim on the front as the power steering I fitted would not like the 285`s, hence planned to fit 255/85/16 in front. I have found both sizes so that they have the same o/d but am not sure if the 285 would foul even if I can find a suitable 16" rim.

Any advice appreciated, thanks

What, because as you have 101 you might as well do everything you can to increase your fuel conumption?!

Good luck in your search. Always fancied a 101, Missus likes 'em too but just have the room for one...

Cheers

Its not that bad on fuel. With a 4.0 on lpg downhill and with the spinaker up I have got to 16mpg and with gas at 50cents au its affordable.

Whats wrong with the same both ends , your going to add to your spare wheel probs
You need to run with two spare wheels , if you have two sizes your going to need 4 . 255 should be perfectly adequate both ends, the OKA runs 900 r 16 same as the 101.
Unless your going extreme off roading (straight across the simpson) why create more probs  :) JMHO

I know what you mean but if I can get both sizes with same o/d then iI would use a 255 as a spare. I darent put a 285 on the front as it would stress the power steering too much and possibly foul on full lock. The idea of 285 behind is that she is a little modified and a trifle rear end heavy, any 101 enthusiast would have a fit, so a wider tyre was just a thought.

If you're using it off road you need 2 spare wheels any way as ballast to keep the wheels on the ground!
