i would just use the disco one myself as i have done in the past as your only swapping the body and you have enough points left with the disco bitts youe using.

but there are some on this site that look very harshley on people that do this sort of thing, from what i have read ! lucky for me they havent seen my 1962 series 2 !
 
Shouldnt you be asking some sort of authority this question? not a bunch of nutters on a forum? maybe you could ask the DVLA when you declare the modifications.

lol they should get a life then.

there is a 100inch defender used by britpart I think for rallyes, if you look in this months LRO or LRM there is a picture of one
 
You can keep the Disco ID but you will need an SVA if you have modified the chassis in anyway.....which you will need to to fit Defender body work, rear crossmember springs to mind.

Your insurance company will be as interested as well as the DVLA.
