Tonight I picked up the spare engine parts that came with the Land Rover, but i'm not sure exactly what they, or the current engine in the Landy are.
When I bought the Land Rover, the chap I bought it off had recently built one good engine out of the original engine and a second engine he bought. As far as I understand it, the engine in my Land Rover is built from the original block, crank, manifolds and auxilliaries, and the new engine's head, rods, pistons, and injectors.
Tonight I collected:
Engine Block - c/w diesel pump, canister-type oil filter, alternator, starter motor, crank, flywheel, plus most auxilliaries.
Inlet Manifold - different to my current one.
Exhaust Manifold - again different type.
Cylinder Head - Requires a rebuild, includes injectors.
Pistons & Rods - 3 good, one battered from loose hotspot.
Here's some pictures:
So, what exactly do I have? How can I identify the components?
I suspect the replacement engine parts are from a 2.5TD (19J) whilst the original engine is either a 10J or 12J 2.5NAD. This means that currently i'm running a 2.5NAD with TD pistons, injectors and head. Is there any difference between the NAD & TD in terms of compression ratio, injectors?
Finally, with the parts I have, what more do I need to convert to a TD? Obviously I need a turbo, as I recall it's a Garrett T2 on the 2.5TD's.
Cheers
