03 plate disco axles

will 03 plate disco axles fit onto a 1990 landrover 90 and if they will will there be many mods

Rear axle will definately need modding. On the Discovery it is located by radius arms and a Watts link....you will either have to change this to a ball joint or change your Defender chassis to mount the Watts links.

This decision will depend upon what you plan on doing with the finished vehicle.

The radius arms also have a different mounting on the chassis end, the Discovery has a bush in the end of the arm with a bolt thru it, where as the Defender has a bush in the chassis that the arm fits thru. I am not certain about the axle end, but I would be pleasently surprised if the holes all lined up

Well I'm not so sure about that .... because I fitted a Disco disc brake axle to my Def 90 and it bolted right on as if itm was meant to be there all along.

Brakes were VERY much better afterwards especially when towing.

So I say the Disco axle will fit straight in.

Disco 1 axle will bolt straight on.
He's talking about Disco 2 axles though - not sure about them.

Just done a search on this topic.

Will the disco 2 internals and hubs fit the defender axle case.

Reason for this for me would be to accept the big alloy wheels

just a query at the mo. As of now i use off road. Would like a second to make it road comfy and look good. Some huge alloys and lowering kit would lok a treat nd may just swing the missis.

Working on getting the missus to shun newer cars like our Zafira which i shy away from tinkering with, The remaining warranty and complicated electrictrickery behing the main issues.
