Hi, I'm a new member of the forum and a new owner of a Freelander 2002 KV6 2.5. I bought the SUV knowing had issues and I always need a good mystery. My Freelander was showing code P0171,P0174 and P1471. I bought a new VIS balance motor and pop it in. I began to notice the VIS motor oscillating after turning of the key. I found that the valve (butterfly) had broken. What options does a person have at this point? Where could I find a new balance valve.

Hi and welcome. The balance flap is only available with the complete plenum chamber. It's very unusual for the balance flap to fail as the motor generally packs up first. As a temporary measure, the flap could be locked in the closed position. This would keep low Rpm torque and fuel economy reasonable. If it can't be locked closed safely, then you can remove the flap completely. This will loose some low Rpm torque and thus, fuel economy will suffer.
I would suggest budgeting for a new plenum. These do crop up on Ebay from time to time. I'd be cautious of second hand units as they are often no better than what you have now. Good luck.

It´s possible to open the collector and fix the arm from butterflies, but requires a lot of time.

Another option some have done is to open the intake manifold (called inlet manifold on this board and that side of the Atlantic) and take everything out and run without variable intake.

You are referring to the power valves. The OP was talking about the balance valve which is in a different location on the plenum ;)

You best bet is to find a replacement off the bay, the flaps sometimes come up on there own, also remember that the MGZT and Rover 75 V6 will also fit even the MGZS V6
