I had a Merc with heated screen wash, it was actually dangerous in cold weather as it allowed you to screenwash a very cold screen and cover it with ice. What learned was you want the screen to be above freezing as well as the screen wash. It was a bit pointless because by the time the heater had warmed the screen the engine heat would warm the screenwash. It was one of those German overcomplicated things.

probably won’t bother then based on that!

I was wondering if I could rig it up to a tank of water for making tea :D

I like the heated screenwash on my car, you can't use it straight away because it will freeze on the cold screen, but once the screen is a bit warm, you're able to clear all the road spray when you're driving

They don’t stop jets from freezing although they do seem to thaw faster once you can get the hot water through to them. Don’t use them on a frozen windscreen for obvious reasons but to get rid of salt spray, muck
& dead insects they’re ver6 useful

in my experience, they do stop the jets from freezing, thats the whole point, but if the jet is covered by snow/ice you need to clear that off first.
its only the jet assembly thats heated, not the water itself

My heatshot system heats the screen wash as it exits the reservoir & not the jets. The jets freeze but constantly activating the washer pump eventually forces water to the jets & thaws them out.

Mix that with heated jets and your be the cool dude on the street for 2 days a year!! Heated screen too and you'd be a god!!!

Someone obviously got out of bed the wrong side this morning. I just corrected an inaccuracy in your post & if you looked further up the thread you’ll see I made point that I installed it to remove salt spray. No need for a sarcastic comeback.

I'm sorry, that wasn't meant to be sarcasm. I appreciate the correction, I didn't know there were goodies out there that heated the screenwash!
It was an attempt a tongue-in-cheek humour :) and it would be pretty cool to have all 3

I never saw any sarcasm in Kermit's post.

If I am honest, I think it will be more effort to fit than the marginal gains it will give me.

I don’t have to deal with salt spray, and frozen windscreen isn’t an issue most of the time (garaged vehicle).

Thanks for all your input guys :)

I've yet to find a decent solution to salt spray on my visor (motorbike helmet)

Back in the 'eighties when I was a road tanker driver our biggest problem was motorway driving when the screen wash nozzles used to freeze all the time, cured by adding copious quantities of methanol in the washer container … didn't do the cab's paintwork any favours, but needs must etc !
Driving just my cars these days I find a good screen wash like Halfrauds pre-mix winter product (the pink one) seems to work well & it smells nice into the bargain ;)
