now its only front wheel drive

Hi i'm new to this site and also my classic 3.9 v8 vogue
i took it out last week and was very impressed loads of power and grip. not new too off road just to the landy
just took it out now only to find i've only got front wheel drive could it be half shaft or transfer box

Looks like its time to get the jack out, try jacking one wheel up at a time turn it see if prop moves, report back and someone might have a clue whats gone bang. dont forget to chock other wheels.

when i took it on the mud only the front wheels were spinning and it wont even drive on wet grass without getting stuck

To test the VCU (Viscous coupling unit) in a Borg Warner transfer box, the following test should be carried out:

1. Apply the hand brake
2. Jack up one front wheel
3. Using a torque wrench apply 60 lb/ft of torque to a wheel nut
4. The wheel should rotate through 90° in 60 seconds
5. If it will not rotate the VCU is siezed
6. If it turns freely most likely the diff is damaged or a half shaft is broken - probably caused by a siezed VCU

no its not got traction control it was great off road and now its sh*t

It is permanant 4WD mate VCU is Viscous coupling unit

yeah it seems to be perm 4x4 no leaver to change to 2wd

sounds like a bust rear half-shaft or a fooked VCU then.

will go and check the vcu and 1/2 shafts

just jacked it up and the both rear wheels turn very easily is it likely to be the half shafts that are snapped
