Hi
I own a Disco 300tdi "96
The engine broke down after a head gasket failure
I have found a Disco II td5 in very good condition and very cheap.
I would like to ask if anyone knows if I can swap the whole body and engine and keep the chassis. Are the chassis the same or have major changes?
Is it possible without cutting/welding?
Is the vin number stamped on the chassis or the body?
I ask all these because I live in Greece and modifications are limited by the law and bureaucracy.

So then why not just run the Disco2? :)
The td5 is in Bulgaria and can't be registered in Greece so I want to bring it as a donor car. If the chassis remain the same here in Greece means that the car remains the same (registration plate etc). All this works if the vin number is stamped on the frame. The engine change is no problem.
So I would like to know if the frames of Disco I and II are the same and if the vin number is located on the frame

Despite the similar appearance, the vehicles are totally different, although anything can be made to fit (see the recent thread with an MGB body on a RR chassis) I doubt it is feasible.
