On the loom issue I swapped mine for aftermarket, cut the injector wires then resoldered them together and no oil since.

Hope it can read live data, as without that you may sadly be on a hiding to nothing. There may well be no codes to read, there weren't when I had this problem or similar. Crossed fingas!i saw a video over the weekend on youtube where they added beffier o-rings to the new loom prior to fitting, that also solved the problem. have ordered a odb reader so hopefully get the error codes when it arrives. thanks for the input .

Did you take a.note of the fault codes?obd scanner arrived, was able to clear the codes. took it for a run last night and drove about 6 miles with no cut out. Previously it would cut out within half a mile. Early signs are promising , will test on a longer run tomorrow.

Of course clearing any codes won't fix it but atleast with a clear memory any new faults will be more relevant.
the error when first read was Driver Demand error which is throttle, had a new TPS fitted a couple of years back. so going to clean the connector over the weekend but it ran much better last night with no errors.
The actual error logged is -> DTC Driver Demand 1 Logged low.
Ive driven about 30 miles now , no reoccurance. I did changed the MAF sensor. Checked the codes after i stopped and
same error persists but its driving ok.

20yrs and never a drop of oil in the red plug still on the original injector loom(Shhh, don't tell anyone, but I have had oil in my red plug since I bought mine in 2014. I changed the injection loom as everyone said and kept on getting rid of the oil for a while. Seems to make no difference, so I only clean it out when I remember, which ain't often! Mum's the word!)
Only ever had one fault reading on the Hawkeye so am I lucky ? Or is it because it was a special military build by order ?

It depends what model you've got. On the Defender the ECU is under the seat, so the oil would have an awfully long way to go before it came out at the red plug. On the Discovery it's in the engine compartment so not far to go, so you're more likely to see oil.
mine is a defender td5, had ecu apart to check for oil, only a tiny amount in ecu near top of red plug, cleaned and reassembled problem still exists.
I had a loom bypass couple of years back for the throttle, i supect its a chaffed wire of actual throttle thats the issue. On depress of the accelerator pedal i get no revs for the initial press, can press it for aboutn 1cm before revs register. pretty sure that the issue.

When I bought my TD5 there was an actual puddle of oil in the seatbox where it had tracked along the wire loom. It was one of the things I forgot to check before I bought it.
its driving much better today.
I noticed this morning the retaining clip which holds the loom in at the throttle end wasnt securely click into place. I secured it and took the old gal for a spin. Much better throttle response, back to normal.
Fault is still there in the reader but its hadling fine. Will put more miles on her tomorrow fingers crossed.
