M4-16 for new fuel tank? Nope!

I have a new fuel tank and am trying to fit the sender in. I was told that The screws I kept wouldn’t work on the new tank. Instead I needed M4-16s. I got those and they still don’t seem to work in the holes. Any thoughts?

you dont actually say what tank youre working with, or what build?

normally, you would work out the tank part number, and then look up on the jaguar landrover site, but theres a bit of a gap in series parts there - you may well find that your tank is used in listed builds though -

Buy a tap and tap them to the old screw thread. Avoid Britpart.

if its a series 1 or 2 the original pin were 3BA ,was the old tank re-tapped at some time or ask the new tank supplier what thread size he used

Even the 300tdi era tanks have, I think, 4ba, along with metric.

I did try the old screws no luck. It's a new tank. Brittany I suspect. No model number on it.

It's a good question. Not sure. Seems odd the new tank all has 2 different sizes?

No model number, just sellers skew code. Seller told me m4s. I suspect it's BritPart

I've seen them riveted in with a dab of RTV.
