Hi all! Newbie here :)
Model: 2006 Landrover Discovery 3 (Auto / 2.7L V6) Basic spec (so no no infotainment screen etc)
I've owned my Landrover for a week, and loved it so far, however when playing with all of the buttons and switches to see what everything does, I've popped it into low range, but it won't re-engage back into high range.

I feel like I've tried everything I can (I'm not particularly mechanically minded).
I've tried:
-Pushing the switch whilst in Neutral
-Pushing the shift into N whilst driving and pushing the button
-A reset procedure (ignition on, accelerator for 5sec, ignition off)
-Reversing
-Popping out the panel and cleaning the connections
-Central mode selection dial is switched to the very right hand position and correctly indicates 'no special modes activated' (or words to that effect)

It can't be a fuse, all other modes work perfectly, suspension modes all work fine, No error messages, Low range correctly indicated in the instrument cluster.

When pushing the range selector I get nothing at all, no beeps, no messages. nothing at all. (When I put it into low range it came up on the screen and lit up the light accordingly)

As such I'm limited to about 50mph which is a bit of a pain and I'm worried Im destroying the gearbox by continuing to drive it. (But need to get to work!)

I'm wondering if it's a faulty switch, but otherwise I'm a bit confused.

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated before I start spending money I don't have (because I spent it all on buying the car haha)

I don't own a D3 so cannot help you directly.
@gstuart is the guru on them hence I tagged him.
Have you contacted the seller to ask/tell them about this as it looks like he/she sold you a pup? At least as far as this is concerned.

I have contacted the seller, but he doesn't know as never used it.

Every other thing on the car is immaculate and amazing. Very very clean for the year, so it's a shame, and I don't think he would have knowingly sold me something dodgy. (hopefully)

It does feel like a tiny thing in the grand scheme

Not wishing to tell my grandma how to suck eggs, I simply did this

It appears it is relatively common.
So if you click on the above and then follow the links you may find out what it is and fix it.
Best of luck
