My 1999 Freelander 1 drives great when its cold, changes gear like a dream. But when outside temperature goes up, as we have had these last few weeks, it becomes very difficult to select gears. The clutch has to be right to the floorboards and its feels stiff when pushing or releasing it. When starting from standstill. I some times have to switch the engine off, select first and then start the engine. It is also sometimes difficult to get from reverse into neutral. Switch off and it drops out easily but then I have to put it into gear and switch on. It will go forever when its cold weather. Any suggestions ?

Best repost that in the freelander forum oh and Welcome
Thanks Steve2286w.
Thank you for the welcome ! I thought that was where I had originally posted it. Obviously doing something incorrectly. Any tips how to post it in the correct place ? Am I missing something?

No probs this section a bit obscure for the less curious
Firstly you missed your introduction in the Introduce yourself as it’s polite to do rather than jumping straight into questions , , could mention you have a issue and you will put it in freelander section, where you will, get umpteen answers as they’re well liked on here, score more points when adding a pic or two of your landy , everyone loves pics
I added this screenshot below using the attach files button

If you click on FORUMS top left you will seee all the different forums and FREELANDERS one of them
Anything Goes is quite interesting 😀

Hopefully you get the fix you want , but most likely someone has asked same question before and you can search just on the freelander thread fro similar issues

If you’re handy with spanner’s you will get advice to fix pretty much everything mech or elecy

Have fun
