Uncle sadly died - need help with selling his disco

Hello all. My uncle sadly died recently and left behind his discovery. I've been tasked to sell it but am having problems in figuring out what price it should be at. It is a 1998 50th Anniversary edition diesel auto. I have just taken it in for it's MOT and it sailed through with no advisaries. My uncle has had it for the last seven years and I believe it has a full main dealer service history (my Aunt has yet to dig this out). It has 115k on the clock but I drove it from her house to the MOT and to my flat (about 40 miles) and it drove very well and I noticed that the spec is quite high for it's year. All in all I would say that it is in very good condition for it's age. One thing I did notice is that the auxillary drive belt tensioner is a bit noisey.

We really need to sell this but as it's a special edition I can't find any around to try and see what they are selling for. Can anyone help with a rough valuation? Any ideas where to sell for the best price?

whereabouts in the country are you - prices do vary a bit.
e-bay or auto-trader are the obvious places but the 4x4 market is at rock bottom at the moment.
I reckon that would only fetch £2k - 2.5k.

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that I am based in central London (not really renowned for it's off-road terrain!).

Just saw a similar spec one sell on ebay with 90k on the clock and that only made £1700. sad state of the market at the mo. good luck mate.

May i say how nice an example it looks.
Autos i think are very popular in sarf landen.

Try it in a free ad for £2999 see what response you get,it's easy to drop the price but hard to up it.

But we got one already.

And service history with a local dealer might put a few people off...:eek:

Seriously, once they get to three years old they sell better in the country. Mine was a Norf London one, but the dealer who took it for part-X had shipped it out to Bury-St-Edmunds to sell it.
 
Oh and does it have a tow-bar? Although most people buy them to tow with, not having a tow bar should get you a better price as it suggests less stressful use.
 
Thanks for your repsonses. It doesn't have a tow bar, just a little fold down step at the back. I will get the service history from my Aunt and then try it in the free sheets. It also needs a very good clean!

Nearly every Disco i,ve seen round Staffordshire has a Tower on it.
I bought my TD5 with one one.
It saves the bother of going to get one.
Dint put me off at all.:cool:

Little tip,don't mention the passing of your uncle to prospective buyers;)

mines a simmilar spec, 3 years older with 150k on clock i paid 1800 on ebay but it was immaculate (until i picked at the bits of rust) but id be lucky to get 1500 for it now the way things are
