Well of course the whole thing was a voyage of discovery. To undo one screw in a panel which may or may not have been covering the tank, I had to remove half of the handle where the trigger and it's safety lock are. And that is where the fun started. A spring and how to fit it to the safety lock wasn't obvious. Of course it sprang out as soon as I very carefully took the two halves apart. Flipped about for ages and ages trying to figure out how to make it work and put it back together. It was not obvious at all.

When "ping" the spring shot off into the wild blue yonder.
Yes I was working outside, no way I could do a dirty job like that inside, no proper workshop with good light as we are so short of room. The spring is about 3 inches long, not a coil spring just a thin spring wire, and it is black. and the weeds nearby haven't been cut so they are about 2 foot high.
No chance of finding it.

So cheap I will prolly end up buying another. No one over here is likely to fix it for much less than the price of a noo one. This seems to be the country where I am forever having to fix things I know nothing much about.

A shame as it is a good machine when working, Easy to work on as regards the chain, sharpening etc, starts very easily and cuts well.

For the mo I am just going to rely on pouring a bit of chain oil onto the chain and bar from time to time, but that is not ideal, won't be doing the bar any good and will make any job take far more time. Wouldn't be so bothered except it is still very cold here in the evenings and we need the logs cut to burn.

If that was a Screwfix "own brand" saw I suspect you cannot get any "spares". I wanted some spares for my Titan Power-Washer and the answer was "Sorry Sir, we don't stock any spares". So you can get a complete new one if it blows up inside warranty, but no "spares" to maintain it yourself. It was the same with their "Erbauer" Drill & Impact driver set.
I'm not buying any more "Own Brand" stuff from Screw-you-fix. :)

TBH. it being that long ago i am not sure. but I do know that they sell this stuff. In fact I bought something recently that was on a silly special offer. It may have been an electric chainsaw which, of course, is in the UK!

Reading the stuff on the labels all over it, it seems to be a Swedish design manufactured for them by china. and there is a phone number, that i found in the back of the handbook, I can ring somewere in the west country. (post code begins BA so Bath.) so if you still have your handbook it might be worth looking.

Yes I agree, in this case the compartments are not sealed there is arch like holes in the lower stringers to let water out.
The whole floor area has been filled with foam but not sealed in ?? The rear engine bulkhead has a hole in it to let water through
into the front compartments & no floor inspection hatches throughout the boat. Someone thought they were doing a good
thing but they obviously didnt have a clue what they were doing. Oh well I got a very cheap boat. :D:D

I'm finding similar on loads of stuff these days. Had a Clarke angle grinder which lasted about 15 years, when it died I got another just the same. But the new one was made in china and it shows - made to just good enough standards and feels cheap. Got an oil filter for the dottir's car - can't remember if it was Bosch or Mann - made in - guess where?. Big brand names outsourcing to the cheapest producer, big con in my opinion while still selling what is now just a quality in the name.

Nothing a man of your calibre cannot sort and do properly.
It is funny what people will do to boat or a house or a car once they've bought it thinking they are improving it!!;)

Erbauer isn't a screwfix only brand they are a standalone company try their website.

Why should you be double taxed especially if you have been sensible and made provisions for later life should be telling that to the peaps with off shore acounts
