Funny thing is the reputation most british car brands had in the 70s 80s etc seems Jags were not too bad, both my Dad and Grandfather had Jags and all say the same, they were the best cars they owned...

I had an 3.6 AJ6 powered XJ40 2yrs ago, very good car it was too, only had it 6 months though, should of kept it..

Compared to the Porsche and BMW that preceded it, it was a paragon of reliability and the servicing at Harwoods was excellent, really good customer treatment.

Incredible, old bimmers were apparently built like tanks, opinions vary though with many saying the opposite

I had a 3 series, the dealers treated you like shyte and the engine burnt oil like it was going out of fashion, 5 litres Worthing to Birmingham return. The Porsche broke the crank at 400 miles, never been revved over 2000. It also suffered a seized gear shift and brake failure twice. I sent it to BCA whilst it was still under warranty.

I'd be thinking sensor failing (like crank or cam) or connector somewhere.

Every time I checked via the Schrader on the fuel rail there was a good spray.
But when breakdown tested it there wasn't.
So he wriggled under and bashed the support saddle for the tank with a wrench while I cranked it and he fired up and drove home. Diagnosis is a failing fuel pump.
So will get the shop to do that while he is in for MOT soon. rather them indoors with a lift than me on the drive this time of year.
Tank is down to about a third at the moment, might try and syphon a few more gallons out before then.

If it was remapped for power it will use more fuel and you'll lose that. Anything that affects flow (cat. delete, DPD etc) will affect how it runs and should be remapped on a rollimg road - sounds like yours was. Any leak anywhere will throw a sensor out and cause oddities. The TD6 engine inlet manifolds were famous for warping amd allowing leaks but I am not sure the TDV8 has any issues there. A leak would certainly cause some issues.

Don’t know if it’s both 3.6 and 4.4 but 3.6s are known for cracked inlet manifolds. Mechanic I know has done quite a few on 3.6s.

Ok need to fix the lack of heat from the rear vents, it's no fun anymore. Guess I'm going to have to start by taking the centre console to bits and see what i can break

For the P38 the books says 28 front and 38 rear, I run 28 front and 30 rear unless towing or loaded.

255/65/16 all at 2.4 bar. A bit crashy but the Tyre life is getting around 40k per set with rotating their positions every now and again.

I swap front to back at every 6K service to even out the wear.

255 55 x 18 book says 28 front 38 rear all conditions.

Going to mums today I travel a fast 60mph stretch which drops the RR to motorway height. When it came to the time to go back to standard all 4 lights flashing and EAS fault on dash, didn't drop to bumpstops though and no 35 MPH warning. Always carry EAS software , cable and a HP& stream7 . Plugged in only fault Air supply interrupt. Cleared faults and fine. Weather not got above 1deg C today so maybe, maybe something to do with that. Any thoughts anyone

I did have at one point have the air intake for the pump on a pipe that led to its original filter inside the cabin. It's now fitted to the clean side if the engine air filter.

Cheers Mark. It is a brand new pump I put on the other week when I ran a new feed to front driver air bag. May worth checking filter on it. Dryer new 3 yrs ago.
