My dad had a building contractors business and this was the era he was doing his major housing contracts in. Sadly, he died in 1951 and the business was sold.

Mine was built fuelled by Buckfast according to the number of empty bottles I found under the floor when doing some diy years ago

In the good old days of the 1990s it was ply from coast to coast. In recent years I've seen stuff going up that looks suspiciously like OSB. There's a huge OSB factory just outside Inverness, so it must be leaching down from there. I'm geeky like that. I love looking at what people are doing on building sites. It gives me ideas to try at home.

We always used farestern ply and screwed down think its called red and blue now but over here we use 25mm planks
