About a hour wasn't a bad job little ackward getting the top bolt by feel and using a uj the other bit that is a fiddle and the heat shield is bolted up by exhaust manifold, done by feel again

Had sticking calipers about a month ago, did check temps other day, rear wheel centres were 16 & 17 degrees and fronts were 18 &19 so brakes and bearings seem to be running fine.

well with the battery disconnected the suspension on the p38 has stayed up all week so im getting somewere with it, alas the passenger window refuses to go up now

Ah OK. In my case it has always been the switch in the centre console causing the problem so it has been lazy locking to the rescue.

Insured my other P38 project car ready for tyres & MOT. £224 for the year. Few weeks ago the cheapest I could find was about £600, but this deal popped up.

Re-charged the aircon with a can of R134a. The previous can has lasted almost 12 years. I don't think there is a leak as there was still some pressure just not enough so it didn't get really cold. The re-charge include a dye which will show if there is a leak.

I've had a look. I reckon the boot probably needs something close to 15mm to fill it and the door seals closer to 10mm. 5m of 15mm backer rod is £80! A new (genuine) tailgate seal is £180. Meanwhile, for £25 I can get this:
That looks kind of tempting.

Mine has been leaking around the compressor spindle. Pressure was dropping slowly over several weeks, but only found the leak because I took the mag clutch off to check if that was the rattle I could hear when engaged. There were no other dye signs anywhere on the system.
