Well cleaning and slightly repositioning the pilot light fan shaped burner type thingy, plus maybe having given its own jet a lttle tickle with a needle and then tweaking the gas feed to it, seems to have done the trick for the mo.
We'll see!

I've been ensuring my boiler works for the past 30 years. So far without incident. Just as I have maintained my vehicles since about 1972. I don't think making things work is a "mod". Much more like proper maintenance. If I felt the urge to make a mod, I'd stop and get a Corgi in to sort it!

and at the moment it still seems to be OK.
