Sealing a diff flange

Is grease alone good enough to seal a diff flange using a gasket

Yes but not guaranteed,
Blue hylomar is what i use,

I’ve used gasket and grease, hylomar and that self squirting black silicone.

It’s still leaking

Blue hylomar is the kiddy.
Are you sure it is the gasket leaking and not the pinion seal itself?
If it is the pinion seal, I can highly recomend the speedi sleeve repair kit.

One day I’ll stop topping it up and have another butchers but it seems to be the joint.

those things cost a fortune, I put a new flange on and seal recently stopped leak for less than £20

If you work out the size and get the part number, they often come up on ebay.
Prop flanges used to be cheap, not sure now? handbrake flange was/is circa 150 quid.
I think early hbrake flanges are Nla?

The mot man picked up a leak on my front diff , it was the nuts just finger tight so nipped those up and it noticed the flange leaking
so got one these and a corteco seal

Cheer's guys, i ended up using a gasket and silicon and all seems well up to now
