I'm going to have to do a photo run now, arent i!!
its going to behave for weeks now, until the time i forget to have my phone ready

I've noticed some times, if i let the screen go to sleep, then sneak up and press start.. the engine is running before the dash has woken up o_O which i assume is just one of those things.. i'm the same sometimes :p

If I get in and see the first screen, then just put foot on the brake and push button it just starts, think the check lights flicker on first but it starts, blink and you would miss the light check.

J

i've noticed it stops cranking if you take your foot off the brake.. which is weird.. but the dash stays 'on' ie position 2
in my case it goes black like its switched off, with just the P and yellow SRS light

The later Freelanders did that. I always start with my foot on the brake (and clutch) so not an issue for me. I guess a dodgy brake switch might hamper new motors.

Chilly one this morning! Decided to try out the heater remote  all it did was set off the alarm :( assuming that means the car battery is on its way out.. ie sudden voltage drop tripping the alarm

Morning all. I haven't done anything yet, but need tomlook at the stereo unit. I know we have hundreds of threads and posts on stereo issues BUT...... I can't find any step by step for checking the DSP. After a couple of weeks without a stereo and blaming the battery, it's time to look elsewhere. Which leads to the DSP, especially as the DSP selection disappeared off the screen when the stereo decided not to play.
Anyone able to find a step by step, as I can't. Oh and search bar doesn't like just 3 letters

Just giving this a little boost. Don't want to start a new thread, as I know the right one must be out there. I just can't find it :(

Thanks. Will give it a try, as searching DSP on here brings back a not enough letters response.
It's something I need to look at too at some point. Original radio works but only the front speakers, cd player works and the steering wheel controls too. Just the sound isn't the best but I've nowt to compare it to as its been like this since I've had her. I'd like to keep everything Original if I can, or at least the head unit and steering wheel controls anyway.

This is where I have been struggling, keeping it all original. There are upgrades but I'd rather not.

Yep, I'm leaning toward the battery on this.
Drive to work this morning, 35 mins.
Just got in, checked the battery (via ciggy lighter jobby).. i know it's not asleep, but showing 11.9v with ignition off, 11.7v ignition on :(
Should get a trailer plug for charging purposes anorl

best battery I can find is this one..
https://www.bmstechnologies.co.uk/p...silver-high-performance-car-battery-type-019/
but some folks seem to suggest an 020 will fit which is £20 more
https://www.bmstechnologies.co.uk/p...lver-high-performance-car-battery-type-020-2/

anyone confirm this actually fits without buggering about?

the first one appears to be the same as this at Halfords https://www.halfords.com/motoring/b...-12v-car-battery-5-year-guarantee-161078.html

And if you have a trade card or know someone with a trade card it’s comes down to £117.99

I fitted a battery at L393mm x w175mm x H190mm. 020
But had to rearrange the mega fuse as there wasnt the space to slot it down the side. simple job:D.
Does your SDD allow you to update a new battery?

Top tip, dont leave it in the boot when you disconnect the battery:rolleyes:.

havent noticed a mega fuse.. what did you do with it?
not sure how i'll get the old one out yet, it doesnt have a handle on top and i'm one handed :(
SDD does battery changing, yes, but it requires ignition on and volts at or over 12.5 for the duration

i was planning to connect jump leads to the rear fuse box while changing the battery, so it doesnt forget stuff

i dont have a trade card :(

Looks like they dont do delivery on batteries either, not suprising given the weight. Though if you wanted I could always order it for you to your local halfords and forward you on the email with the QR code for collection. I've never known them to ask for ID when providing the QR code even though its already paid for online.
