Unfortunately with Green Flag who we discovered in this situation are sh*t but you dont realise this until you need them. Apparently they are asking LR to foot the bill….waiting to see the outcome of this. Of course they have no courtesy cars in the meantime!!

I'm with Green flag and they were great when I asked them to take my L322 to the gearbox specialist. It's only about 20 miles away, but then I have upgraded my policy to homestart and recovery.

Currently awaiting response from Green Flag head office. Mess up there too. Churchill Ins who I bought the policy with approved full tow back to home town (80miles away). Green Flag refused as my full policy wasnt showing on their site!! They would only tow it 10 miles. Ended up paying ourselves to get it towed 30 miles to nearest LR garage as breakdown guy said there were no local garages that could check diagnostics. Because had to pay out of pocket didnt want to get it towed all the way to our local LR garage where it has been serviced and Mot. Whole thing has been a disaster.

My cover is through my bank as an added benefit but I pay the extra to Green flag, normal policy as you say is only 10 miles.

So is the car at the garage you bought it from as you say it's not the one that does your servicing?

Get on to the insurance company and Green Flag and see about either getting the money back or getting it towed to your local garage. After all you paid for a service that they haven't delivered on completely. As the ca\r is just sitting there it can't hurt to get it moved especially if you move it to the garage you bought it from. BUT if it is now in the garage you bought it from, leave it there.
Doesn't your breakdown cover cover you for a hire car? Some do?
I expect the garage is unwilling to let you have a courtesy car as they think you'll be using it for ages!

No car is not at local LR garage where I bought it, at another LR garage 50 miles away. Had no idea it would still be there, thought it would be something straightforward…..

Waiting on green flag to get back to me. Had initially asked them to refund tow cost but now its turned into a disaster with car stuck there and no courtesy car. Didnt mind for a few days but this doesnt look like its going to be resolved fast. I need to now ask if they can provide a hire car.

Yes. They advised me I had to get the garage its currently in to raise the claim with LR and also I should contact LR and raise claim with them too. I will then apparently get a claim no. But no idea how long this process takes. Waiting on full report from the garage today with costs etc.

As said by others I think they are talking poo. Different issue but same principle, when my dealer fit motorbike alarm broke citizens advice said it was down to the dealer as they bought and fitted it the dealer then has the cotract with the manufacturer.

I had similar with a BMW which I purchased second hand from a dealer.... Gearbox went, the dealer expected BMW to contribute Squiff all but as I had purchased my last 2 cars from them, had BMW dealer servicing and had purchased gap insurance they actually contributed 80 percent of the cost.

Our local chap with the same issue is stuck as he purchased it from his dad a farmer which puts him between a rock and a hard place really.

I think when it fails on such a low mileage there is clearly a defect. Its just unfortunate its not in the same LR garage that we bought and serviced the car in as it broke down miles away from home and got towed to the nearest LR garage. Had no idea what we were going to be dealt with.

Maybe your LR one would even pick it up for you ?
