Hello all,
Looking for a bit of advice regarding the above.
Engine and gearbox rubbers pretty much shot to bits and are in very poor condition (SIII SWB, 1973 petrol).

I have spent a bit of time today spraying penetrating oil and loosening fixings to make life easier in preparation for changing later in the week, but, it seems the PO has used the square diesel rubbers instead of the petrol type.

It's not got its original engine, and at some time in its past, it's had an 11H 5 bearing engine from a 90 fitted.

Looking in the parts manual the metal brackets for diesel/petrol seem the same but the brackets then have different numbers in the 90 manual, which I assume has something to do with different chassis type?

The 90 manual states completely different part numbers for rubbers as well.
Anyway, looking for any advice on which rubbers to order, as not sure of the differences between the diesel/petrol type other than shape but surely they should both fit as metal brackets are the same or do I go for the 90 rubbers?
I assume the brackets I have must be SIII and not 90 type, but can't be 100% sure.
Thanks in advance.

Any series should fit but be prepared. The new ones I fitted recently are rock hard compared to the old perished ones and boy can I now tell it’s a diesel. New noises abound. Mostly buzzing and rattling at tickover. Even the steering wheel is trying to remove my fillings. o_O

Thanks Bobsticle, will go with original petrol mounts. There's enough rattling and buzzing at the moment, so a bit more surely won't hurt!
I'm hoping it goes some way to solving or lessening a judder that appears when coming off the throttle.
Thanks again.

Glencoyne does a kit that makes softer 90 rubbers fit series mounts
Certainly made a difference to the tdi in my series

I read something about Transit mounts being the same fit and a partial upgrade. Can't offer any more than that.

They sound like the round ones which I fitted on fitting my 200di to series diesel, less vibration than original engine

Yes thats them I am lazy so cut the new mounts with a slitting disc, dont do that use a hacksaw!

Got mine off heebay, 4 in no with nuts

Thanks for everyone's input, have gone the route of standard petrol mounts and all seems OK. Not taken her for a good run yet, but hopefully all will be well.

Oh and the steel brackets are like a wooden Chinese puzzle.
Good luck :D

You're not wrong there, Bobsticle, proper pain of a job (although helped by plenty of swearing) - not helped by a PO's attempt at making one of the steel brackets either, new one on order.

Thanks again all.
