L322 main gear box pump seal.

So having replaced the Tc, I had a leak from the bell housing, so I removed the gearbox and fitted a new seall only to find it leaking again, Is it the TC shaft is worn or do I need a genuine seal.

What was the condition of the tc seal face like? Any lines at all will reduce the life of the seal straight away... A quick pass of emery cloth on the seal surface in the direction of travel will help eliminate lines as long as they aren't deep. If there are heavy lines then a new seal may not save it!!

Did you wet the seal when replacing the tc back in. On some seal materials, when dry the first turn can reduce its lifespan through friction and a touch of grease or oil helps the seal survive until its lubricated by the oil it's sealing against and some seals are dry face contact... Normally it's stated on or in the seal packaging..

Can't beleive my luck, I finally got car into garage and on further inspection I found the sump gasket leaking, phew. I was going to replace it anyway with a steel sump. Bullet dodged.
