hi all, went out in the rain today just on some local roads in my 1988 90, first time i been out in heavy rain since i bought her, i got two leakes both in the same place each side it would apear. sitting in the drivers seat, look up to your right just above the door frame a little bit back from the corner, and exactly the same place on the other side, nothing obvious on the outside. although a bit wierd - when i'm going along "fast" it doesnt leak, but on breaking and through corners as well as pottering along, i get a face full of water all over the dash and wheel.

not too bothered as its what you can expect from an old motor, but if it can be fixed, i would love to know how. anyone else had em in the same places? or similar leaks.

cheers ...

I have it too; tried putting seam sealer in the gutters, I tried sealing all the joins on the roof, I tried sealing the windscreen up... I STILL HAVE IT!

hi i agree with tewey, but its water getting into internal channel through outer roof seals so take roof off and replace seals, boring but only way. Or look at it another way all that water will a, keep the dust down no need for cabin filters in landrovers and b, wash any mud out ! also could wear marrigolds not pink ones ! will keep hands dry ,also try lidls as our local one got good deal on wet suits or take roof of completely and only drive when its sunny.

Remember drive it like you stole it !

I just put the roof back on!

There are two seals, I filled the in-between area with LOTS of silicone, I honestly thought that would be it. The leak was there before (I only get it drivers side now I think about it). I don't understand how it’s getting in, because I ran the silicone gun along the outside where the roof meets the windscreen frame on top of all the other seals.

Oh well, roof off again...

before ye take the roof off, peel back yer door rubbers at the top and have a look for any gaps. There should be one at the front where the roof 'meets' the screen..

Probably not the best pic, but it gives ye an idea where tae look.
This roof joint was filled with a black putty type stuff and then taped over.
another place it 'may' come from is behind the door..

Try and find the 'Water Ingress' manual to download, it's only 566kb's
;) :D

Yeah I found it - but I ran out of silicone after the 4th page.

I'll have a look once I get my battery box fixed. Thanks.
