That’s a shame if u need a laptop , wonder if u can get a cheap second hand laptop off ebay so u have it solely for the diagnostics , plus gutted as I threw one away last year as u could have had that FOC
Also maybe one of the members might have one that’s getting old but would be perfect for what u need it for
suppose one consultation will be a decent size screen instead of the smaller handhelds

I have a couple of laptops I can use, I was just hoping not to. Charging is a pain, with a laptop if I want to keep it in the car and forget about it until needed. Also a tablet or stand alone could be safely stowed, whereas laptop doean't fit in any of the little spaces available. As I throw stabs, crates, sometimes lambs, bales, shopping, and other things in the boot, and dog in rear seats, it's not the safest location for a laptop I already have call out safety gear under the seats, so no space there either .
Oh well it is what it is

I use a HP Stream 7 as recommended by Storey Wilson for his EAS. It runs Windows 8 and 10. So should run his diagnostics software

Doh my memory. Forgot to put its tablet size fits in glove box easy peasy and only cost £50 from a dealer on the bay who had refurbed it

I first bought the Icarsoft 930 it will read and clear faults on most systems it did pick up a front left height sensor problem and clear that no problem, I then moved on to the Foxwell nt 530 thinking it would calibrate suspension height now I know we have slagged it off because it caused a load of grief but it will read and clear faults and give live data nearly all the systems it comes with nice little pouch its stand alone and it lives under my drivers seat, you do still need a laptop to download the Fox assist program to install the software on to the nt 530 but after that you just need to connect it to the laptop if there is any updates, unless you want to spend a lot more and go for the Gap iid it might be worth thinking about the Foxwell.Thanks Gary

You have to wonder, don't you? I reckon he should take the cats off and redo the compression tests.
MrGorsky reckons they were only a year old, although it has been sat here a year by now. So cats are maybe 2 years old, max. The original were 20 years old and he chucked them the other week. Surely after-market should last at least the proportion of the cost of Land Rover parts?!

ur so welcome , just a royal pain I know with messing around with a laptop , at one time I got a 12 volt charging adaptor for my old Dell laptop that I used in the van for work , just plugged into the cig lighter
plus it didn’t like the winter being stored in a freezing van , ended up getting a decent case, wrapped in bubble wrap then foil which made a lot of difference
Great u have some laptops but also found this ref tablets that have usb as hopefully someone can also recommend one for u if u also think about that option

also have a gap iid, but alas it can only be used on vehicles that are OBD2 compliant , must admit expensive but an awesome bit of kit and a brilliant suspension calibration software , even some garages are using them because they’ll do virtually the same as the more expensive ones paid for itself very quickly seeing our local dealer now wants £180 per hour plus vat

Most of the 'normally' mentioned systems are not for the early , diesel, L322. As @stustrong seems to have the answer, then I'll just do RSW , and dedicate one of my laptops to it. It can all sit in a laptop bag.
As usual , the Golden Girl has chosen to be different from the crowd

Soooooo, keeping this updated, for anyone else with the 2002, L322, diesel. Had a look at Storey's All Comms. Looks good and apparently the HP Stream 7 on Windows 8 will run it without issue.
I'm going to order both, as I just can't put it off any more. 11yrs of procrastination is enough I am also going to see what friendly, truck mechanic is using.

Could be wrong but don't think RSW covers diesel engine the Foxwell does.

This is what I mean about tail chasing. @stustrong says it does . Now you're saying , 'nope only foxwell'.
This is why it's taken 11yrs
Addit: from Foxwell site , "Designed for Jaguar and Land Rover cars from around 1999 onwards (models with a 16-pin OBD-II type diagnostic socket)" . Does that mean OBD2 compliant, or just the socket is that type?

If you are going to go the lap top route then the bmw inpa is a free download and a cable about £30 and if Stustrong can confirm it will work on the Golden girl its a lot cheaper than RSW

Fixed my lpg reducer! Now it's running too lean because it used to be running on 2, now only one. Need to open it up to provide more gas

Right just plugged Icarsoft into my diesel P38 a 2000year one. It reads engine SRS and ABS so should imagine it will work on yours . It reads all sorts on my mates RR Sport. He believes theres a video on you tube showing what it does on the L322. Plus it comes with its own cableI will do laptop if it is the last and only option. Stustrong says laptop only. hope u don’t mind me asking but does it also do the EAS and tight tolerance plse
know it’s always a nightmare pre OBD2, think they changed for the diesels after 2004 and petrols jan 2001
Indeed, RRS will be OBD2 complaint , same with my D3 , however have found some of the generic code reader throw out some weird codes
would be nice if there was a simple list of what will and won’t work on Land Rover models , maybe we should compile one between all of us all for future reference
