2wd Freelander 1 conversion new insurance needed

Had to convert my freelander to 2wd due to the vcu taking the diff out etc. Had the removal done at a garage. How is this going to affect my insurance price wise and with whom do i go?

First step is to talk to your current insurer and ask them the question. It might not affect it at all.

Not so bad this time of year. But if get snow next year, it'll sure be embarrassing being stuck spinning your front wheels in something that looks like a 4x4...

They only effect I found in similar boat to you was skitty fwd on gravel. But once you learn not to punch it then easy to use.
Insurance can or will be key as you have modified the manufacturer design. If you have any accident, involving your vehicle lack of ability to function correctly they can nil and void.
Most MOT testing seem to ignore drive train but ask just in case. My old Freelander 1 was a lovely vehicle but my financial situation didn't.

I found it ok in general but i seriously wouldn't advise it winter. I'd have mine back as 4wd tomorrow but it needs an ird and they are too expensive

True they have a cascade effect if the previous owner remove the drivetrain. That's why report on why this was removed from the start not because of fuel economy.

We bought ours private and didn't know the ird was faulty. It eventually failed 5 weeks later. Never had one before as such so didn't know better. Got a great engine in it too so it's a shame really.
