I'd be tempted to look at Halfords and the like for something like this with a VW facia, I have an old version I got about 12 years ago for my Subaru legacy and it was pretty good (no DAB obvs), I was tempted to put that in the wifes car but there's no alarm on it and she parks in a dodgy side street at work. It's your money at the end of the day and I don't want to recommend something that turns out to be a pile of crap but IMO £329 for something you can't try is a big punt.

I will look I know it's all subjective, but I don't have a clue, any help I get is great, If I DIY I will just fall on my arse anyway, but 2-300 is OK, it's not a fortune if it goes wrong

I guess anything under £100 is worth a punt but £300+ I'd prefer to see and hear it. And £329 unbranded ebay for me would be to big a punt.
At least with Halfrauds you can go and ask questions and if anything goes wrong there is some comeback. And they have reviews. I couldn't justify the £500+ price tag on mine but when they reduced it to about £250 ish (can't remember exactly) I had to go for it. The fact that it used the iPhone apps was a bonus, satnav, tinterweb, music.

I don't have iphone, never liked them, so all the iphone stuff on the is no good to me, I have android I just loaded that Waze GPS, and it is very good and free on my phone

Not keen on iPhone myself but it was a freebie, I also have an android works phone and having both means I can test IOS and android apps for work.
I think the newer head units can do both anyway. I also have a cheapish satnav with lifetime updates.

I have a dedicated sat nave (for my HGV) and you can switch it over to car, it's a bit redundant now as I don't use it for HGV shame really as it's very good, but the maps are a little out of date, makes it interesting when it looks like your driving in a field at 56mph lol

Not had much chance to do practical things of late but did get to go out in the landy!!
I was bored, say in a lockdown queue of traffic so turned the front screen on and did some heavy breathing on the screen!!
I could clearly see a line down the screen, indicating the screen was 'working' of sorts, with the line where one element had obviously failed.
There must be a bad connection acting as a resistor so the screen isn't getting the full current it needs. Hopefully not a bad track in the fusebox

Managed to get the EKA for the wife's P38, not had a chance to test it yet as the battery is absolutely pancaked. I know it'll need replacing at this point, but it is a step in the right direction.

Had to try 2 different dealers though, originally rang Swindon and they really didn't give a ****, it wasn't new so it wasn't their problem. I just found myself on hold, waited 30 minutes and got bored of nothing.

So I tried Melksham instead (I am half way between both, so if I had to drive there it made no difference). Think it was 10 to 12 at this point so wasn't expecting them to put the world on hold for me. About 30 minutes later they called me back with the code.

Just need to work out how to bypass the bonnet open switch so I can jump it off my P38 and see if everything works. Exciting times.
The Swindon dealership are a bunch of total ****ers mate. There is D&G in Minety ( Highly recommend these guys ) and also Mike Allen in Swindon next to the train station who is awesome chap too. Both are Ex main dealer experts who had enough and set up on their own.
Regards,

Took her for more of a run and found i stil have a diesel leak looks like i may have disturbed a leak off pipe whilest doing the pump seal:(
so looks like intake off again and sort that and replace the glow plugs and gaskets how i have the parts thanks to Dopey:)
When i did my injectors on my EX Westminster i also replaced all the leak of pipes which were a real PITA TBH. If they are not fully pushed down they will bloody leak. In the end i got there with them but it was too late as the engine was blown. Gone now but never forgotton. LOL. I will say this though about the P38 TD engine, they are a lot easier to work on than the V8.

Yes, I recall being recommended D&G before, think the guy told me they worked for Wotton dealer, but when it moved they setup their own place. I am not sure they'd have had access to the EKA database though.

But, now the wife's bus is running I know where to take it.

Think it was just after Covid hit last year I realised I didn't have the EKA. But the boys at Melksham LR did me a solid.

Sat like this while the lockout timer finished itself.

But the pay off was worth it.

The wife is salty because I posted this, stealing her thunder.

Greg & Dudley @ D&G are very well versed on the P38's especially Dudley so i would say they have access to pretty much anything from the main dealer network buddy. All you can do is ask. Looks like your wifes example needs a bloody good clean under the bonnet area. All that debris wont do the scuttle area any good and those all important drain off areas too. I think them tyres are shot now too!!!. LOL

Spent the day staring at mine riding on its schrader valves while John Craddock continues to process my driver board order. Any ideas if all mail order parts stores are locked down? I ask because other stuff I've ordered have shipped but John Craddock is still processing. It's been 2 weeks now. Island 4x4 won't even come back with a shipping quote and Land Rover Malaysia wants £708 (advance order, payment in full upon placing the order and God knows if it'll arrive any faster), and that's quids.... pounds sterling, not Malaysian toilet paper money, for one.

What gives?

Anybody?
I would look at X8R. island sent me some airbags to Russia late last year but it took ages and the delivery got split but it was December and Christmas and all that. and then back in jan ordered some more parts from Island but they said they were having too much trouble with the airmail so refused to ship. Went to X8R who shipped as island (royal mail) and arrived in 10 days.

She has been sat on her arse for a year to be fair! Lovely new tyres on and now she's actually on a good clean down will be in order. (I won't mention the mould....)
