Hi peeps,as per title could there be a connection to the two events? I had to make a new earthing point for the screen wiring as the fitter was lost when the nut was rusted to nothing. He said he couldn't modify the installation o_O it only needed one hole drilling and a new bolt to earth the wires.

Have you checked the obvious connection under the seat? No matter who does what to any of the cars I've owned, the seat always gets pushed right back to it's limit

Will do, it may be the shock of being put inside the garage for the first time in years  good job I started clearing it before Christmas. It started raining then hailstones so the fitter was glad to be inside. Job not finished as the new top trim had a dent in it when he took it out of the package .

There's a connector under the dash below the steering wheel. Its a pitta to get at but was the problem on mine. managed to get ti by taking panel held on with the 4 screws, split the joint contact cleaner and all was good. Could have just got disturbed when the windscreen was changed.

I take it you disconnected the battery and awaited for a reasonable time before plgaying with the connection. ;):D

Shower of bastards,my guy was great and was very appreciative of me helping him lift the old one out. He fitted the new one then gave me a shout to drill the hole and fit the earth bolt. Then finished it off, except for the top trim which was dented. He said they will come back to fit when they get a new one.

I personally didnt, i just gave the connection a jiggle (the wires move in and out of the plastic a bit)
my reasoning, airbags don't go pop every time you move the seat.
they shouldnt go off when the ignition is off either, in my opinion.
that said, if i was disconnecting or reconnecting, i'd play a bit more safe ;)

First time they came was with wrong screen chap ordered new one and all the clips second time the trim screws was rusted in so didn't wanna undo them so again I did as said drill them out as got some new screws to replace them

This guy drilled out the old rusty screws but I need one new plastic insert . He was from Alaska so probably not tainted by the jobs worth ideology of this country yet.

some people are like that won't do more than they should the first bloke who came out owned a range rover so he knew what to expect but sadly he didn't come out second time round

Just had a phonecall from Autowindscreens to tell me they will be out on Saturday to fit the new top trim.:D Been thinking, dangerous I know, but I wonder if they have buggered a bulb in the airbag system when the fitter used an electric reciprocating scraper to cut through the screen sealant.;)

SRS wires are nowhere near screen seal as far as I recall.
