Hello Edward,
I have a Discovery 2 which is a Japanese import. It is aV8 petrol and great. As it spent many years in Japan the chassis is very good on original factory paint

I think Jap imports are a good buy if you want aDiscovery 2.

It s very smooth; I had a TD5 diesel for 10 years and the V8 is a nice car to drive with lots of power.
Fuel consumption is not good with 12mpg around town and 18mpg on a log run.
Most V8s are auto and have a good trim level.

Hi and thank you for your answer!

I am strictly looking for diesel versions so im afraid the V8 version is out of the picture, thanks anyway :)

about importing from japan to sweden; it CAN be Done but since we have left hand drive here I would not do it mainly for that reason. But i am looking to buy one that has done its miles in the far north of Sweden since they do not use salt on the roads there

:D:D

thank you for your answers!
Not sure what you ment by ”d2 with ace” can you explain?

By ”allroad” do you medan like Audi A6 allroad? A little confused here, sorry :D

ACE = active cornering enhancement, awesome when its working, basically two hydraulic rams linked to the anti roll bars which keep the car pretty level aroudn corners.

Yes Audi Allroad, but must have the 3.0tdi engine, the 3.0tdi is a very very good engine, (218/245/272/315 bhp versions) 245bhp seems to be pretty trouble free, obviously off road not a patch on the d2/3, but will do 40 to 50mpg, and not rust for fun!
Do not buy one from before 2008 as they had injector problems, also when start engine from cold no rattles after the oil pressure has built up means camchains good, and er thats pretty much all there is to look at!
Pre 2011/12 the 3.0tdi has a proper auto box, after 2012 only the bigger bhp engiens have hte proper auto box, the smaller bhp versions have a dsg box, which is also pretty good.

Don't know if you would be able to import a Jap one into Sweden though.
you could (also to hungary) but not so "nice" to drive a RHD car here and also in Sweden. Talking about import, Italy has a lot of nice, rust free D1 and D2s, but the prices are quite high. I was also thinking about it in the past (to get a nice D1 or a classic Range Rover).

There was an Italian bloke on here not long ago asking very similar questions he couldn't choose between a coupla D1s I think, one 300tdi another a V8. IIRC.

And yes they were pricey. They is pricey in Frogland too!

On that topic; what does a decent d2/d3 cost in the uk?
As i mentioned earlier D2 here(in Sweden)is about 5500£ and D3 HSE about 10000£

If you can check eBay uk for completed sales, you'll get some idea, or ales you could look on autotraders to get some idea.
I'll try and put links up

and autotrader

PS, don't pay too much attention to "spares or repair", people have to put that in to avoid legal cr@p, they are often just something that needs a bit of attention. although obviously some are much worse. I have bought quite a few like that, no problem.

Don't know if you have ever driven a right hand drive vehicle where you are. Us brits do it a lot when on holiday, we do it for half the year, it really isn't that bad! And you can park next to the pavement and just step out!;):)
But Swedish insurance may penalise you a bit if you import one. No idea but worth checking I suppose. Ditto import charges.:(
