l322 TD6 non start no crank continued,
I Have just found all the maxi fuses in the glove box fuse-board charred like blacking on the fuse blades, there was only 10.8v going out of the fuse-board but 12.8 going in, I've given the fuse blades a clean and now the entire car sees 12.8 or battery voltage so i thought BINGO however the car still doesn't start but its cleared some canbus issues up. I'm committed to fixing it unfortunately I only have an hour a day free to investigate it. does anyone know where the main earth points are? or have come across a charred fuse-board before and what caused it I can only think of a bad earth strap. @holidaychicken

There is an earth strap passenger side at bottom of engine that has been known to fail and give hassle, try a jump lead as an earth.

so ive had an auto electrician out today and he said its a faulty seering column the eeprom clip inside it has failed, its not the usual steering column symtoms as the steering wheel still unlocks and key turns, he also said i cant get a used one it needs to be a virgin new one from dealer, is this true or is he talking nonsense

Interesting, I changed the column on my 53 plate for a second hand one when I got it (normal stuff every thing broken cheaper to go S/H ) and the only problem was the steering angle sensor needed recalibrating other than that it just worked, if steering unlocks when key inserted then cant see it being column problem.

@kds thats what I thought in my experience but this guy charges £120 P/h and I’ve used him for years in our garage with more complex electrical issues and I can say he’s not been wrong yet.. Im getting another column with correct numbers delivered tomorrow so I’ll update you !

Ditto - if you had voltage drop signals then you need to check all the earth straps even if they are tight there could be a load of corrosion unseen, it's free to check and doesn't have any negatives, sorry about the pun. Everyone here says that the L322 needs all the volts it can get so that may be part of your solution.
Tricky.

Can anyone advise the location of the engine earth location on the TD6 engine I’ve searched high and low and can’t see anything I had a TDV8 on the ramp at work today and that had one on the back of the transfer box but I can’t see any one mine that go to engine or box.

@holidaychicken ive attempted it but it failed. im trying to find someone locally with testbook to have a go, ive tried earthing the engine via kump lead to negative battery post. that was unsuccessful, if i cant find anyone to re sync the ews/ecu link then ill have to buy a new lock kit..
