hi i have a 1988 defender which i,m currently restoring/rebuilding its had a daihatsu 2.8 turbo conversion and i,m wondering what is the best gearbox to run with it ?thanks
Hello.
What box has she got in there now?
Always a good start
nowt much wrong with the Landee fitted Lt77 setup unless youre thinking huge power
Rich.
Whilst the 2.8 Tdi Daihatsu engine is a massive improvement over the old 2.5 N/A and even the 2.5 turbo engines, it ain't no half shaft snapper I can tell you lol
I would stick with an LT77 and LT230 transfer case to be honest, reliable, cheap and pretty original.
Hi and welcome!
Not seen a daihatsu conversion for a while due to the Tdi being so popular. But it was quite popular in the 90’s before Tdi’s became cheaper. I’d stick with the standard gearbox.
