Hi everyone,
So I bit the bullet and have purchased a 2001 4.0 p38, the guy had the battery disconnect so that it started as it's been stood for wa while. Came to it this morning put the battery on and the dash says enter code! Remote now not working. I guess this isn't a new post but where do I find the code and procedure for entering it? Cheers for any advice Ade

What state is the battery in? If there is less than 12.6 volts when it's connected, you are flogging a dead horse, the P38 needs lots of power.
Is it asking for the EKA code? If so it should be with the owners handbook.

If it needs the EKA code and its not in the hand book got to a main dealer with v5 and they should give you it for free, its about the only thing you can get from JLR for free:(

Well after reading the link to the posts that JUKE179r shared, it was mentioned that taking the battery off can cause this problem. The battery tested 12.6 volts so I reconnected it for a day and all is working ok now! Except that it ticks over but won't rev up!!

I thought you got rid of it, how many P38s do you have?
Barry to the rescue :D

Wasn't referring to myself...we had 3 between us one sold...one got rid off due to huge debt to finances on it which caused problems when we started enquiries using the reg number...and the 98 4L which I kept...needs ABS sorted showing front right sensor fault,tail-gate lock and headlining sorted both have been stripped out but re-building my Smart fortwo so not done much to it..

So the 98 4L is that gangster guys one, it is that the one that went??

No it was a 4.4L with around 50k Kim's on it with a brand new main dealer fitted chassis under it... but business owner disappeared back to Holland and left his partner in the ****e...we thought we had found the barn find... Finances (IRS) agreed if we payed 60K euros to be able to re-register it... here in Portugal they check car lots and garages to check vin plates for owners trying to sell vehicles that have a debt on them to the government and have had their assets seized...

Has something come loose? Connector/small pipe somewhere perhaps.

Not revving is neither an EKA or battery related issue

Well I did find a soft rubber hose with a 5mm bore on the left side of the engine, but couldn't see where it came from. It's about two feet long. Someone else started the strip down to remove the intake to fix the fuel leak!
