HI, I originally started this thread under series but thought I would try it here... Anybody had this trouble before, rebuilt engine, new pump, new stat 74 degrees, flushed rad as was in good order, started for the first time but got a bit hot just under the red not ideal for new engine so turned it off. started it the next day and started to check a few things stat opening fine and getting heat to the top of rad but bottom hose cold, revved engine with rad cap off and cannot see any flow of water into the rad all looks static. I'm suspecting the pump even though it's new, it is one of those cheap britpart ones. I am thinking off trying the more expensive britpart pump in the red box called proflow, which i think is made in the UK and nearly three times the price. anybody tried these with any success?

Define rebuild please?

Some folks have weird ideas about what it means!

In my less experienced past I've had it where i have not allowed enough clearance and the main bearings got very hot where once running they expanded and began to bind, horrible sensation and noises :(

Could you expand on the depth of your build so we can start from the earliest point.

OK, reground big ends on crank, mains in spec, re-bore and new pistons and rods all new bearings and followers, engine started so easy was ridiculous, runs smooth quiet with no noises, crank was torqued down in stages to make sure there was no pinching on the crank and felt good. end to end balanced rods and pistons balanced, just thought I would do it while it was apart glad i did the rods were miles out.

Sorry, thought it best to ask as I previously bought V8 heads that were supposedly rebuilt only to find out they had just been steam cleaned and doused in WD40

To be fair i would expect a little bit of warmth but not overly hot from a freshly built engine with tight tolerance but your engine sound odd, have you verified temp with laser thermometer or such yet? Could it be a faulty sender? Does it feel too hot?

Thank you for your help guys, engine was completely stuffed when I got it, hence rebuild, checked rad before reassembly and as fast as I could hose water into it it would come out the other end, reversed flushed it as well so I don't think it's that, coolant feels hot but not steaming have 50 percent coolant in it, to be honest I still feel it's lack of flow as the water doesn't move into the top of the rad under throttle, could be an airlock stopping flow any suggestions on how to remove if it is?
gut feeling crap pump just thought i would ask you guys in case you have had similar issues.

Have now sorted it, was the pump, installed the more expensive Britpart pump and now have good flow into the rad,
engine now running just above normal while idling.
Happy days.
